Attendance
Research and our experience have shown that regular attendance is important to the learning of every child. The school understands that there are times when absence is unavoidable. However, every effort should be made to see that students are in school except for illness or emergencies.
When a child is absent from school, the parent/guardian must phone the school (474-5882) on the morning of the absence prior to 9:00 a.m. If your child is absent due to illness, please state the nature of the illness and whether it is flu or strep-related. If you are unable to call the school, it will be necessary for your child to bring a written excuse when they return to school.
Tardies are disruptive to the class and your child misses valuable learning time. Encouraging your child to arrive on time and establishing good attendance are important lessons to teach your child. These are habits that can last a lifetime.
If you are planning a vacation, dentist appointment or non-emergency doctor visit, we ask that you make every attempt to schedule it during one of our two-week breaks. If you child must be gone during school time, please notify the school in advance so that we may note the absence as pre-arranged.
Medical Information
It is the school Health Specialist’s goal to meet the health needs of each student while enrolled at Payson Elementary School.
It is important that the school be notified of any changes in a student’s medical condition. The State of Arizona requires that current immunization be made available to the school at the time of enrollment. Parents/guardians will be notified if your child must be sent home due to illness, injury or other health-related problems.
10 Reasons to Keep Your Child Home from School
