Applicants for Bus Driver need to complete the classified application and the bus driver supplemental application.

Substitute Teachers

Payson Schools can always use competent substitute teachers. Preference is given to applicants who possess a Bachelor’s degree. Applicants with at least 60 post-secondary college credits may become emergency substitute teachers.

All substitute teachers must obtain an Arizona Substitute or Standard Teaching certificate and current fingerprint clearance. The district’s substitute teacher application must be submitted to be considered for substitute teacher employment.

All expenses incurred in obtaining certification and fingerprint clearance are the responsibility of the applicant.

Salary Schedules

The current  Certified Salary Schedule and Administrative Salary Schedule reflect the Governing Board’s commitment to make Payson Schools more competitive with larger districts around the state. The ability to attract and retain highly qualified teachers and administrators to Payson depends on a realistic salary schedule, generous benefits and comprehensive staff development.

Teachers may earn additional compensation by participating in the state-mandated Performance Pay Plan.

A wide range of Extra-Curricular Salary Schedule is offered for teachers that wish to coach a sport or assist in other ways with student groups.

In addition Payson Unified School District is one of 28 Arizona districts with a Career Ladder Program. All teachers new to the district must apply to and qualify for placement on the Ladder in their first year with the district. Participation on the Ladder after the first year is optional, however substantial financial incentives and higher student achievement persuade most teachers to remain on the Ladder.

The Hourly Salary Schedule mirrors comparable jobs in both the public and private sectors within the Payson area.

Full-time employees (30+ hours/week) enjoy a rich benefit package of district-paid medical, life insurance and disability insurance. Employee-paid dependent coverage is available.

Employees working 20+ hours/week enroll in the Arizona State Retirement System and share the cost 50/50 with the district.

NEW! We’d like to invite you to watch our video about the new medical insurance benefit we’re offering. For the fiscal year 2010-11 we’re offering a traditional PPO plan and the new HDHP plan with an associated HSA.
