Keri Parker is an accomplished oil painter. She approached Mr. Conley, the high school art teacher, at the beginning of the school year and told him that she wanted to help kids learn how to oil paint during her lunchtime. Since then, she has visited his classroom twice a week and has taught many students how to paint with oil, using the wet on wet technique. Keri is a very patient and kind teacher. She supplies our kids with paints, brushes, canvases and oil paints. She has bonded with all of the students whom she has taught. They are amazed that she is willing to give up her time to help them learn to paint with oil. The student’s paintings are outstanding and Keri seems to enjoy the experience as much as her students. For these reasons and more, it is a pleasure to honor Keri with the HERO of Public Education Award for her dedication to the students at Payson High School.
