Throughout this message you will see the word EXCEL capitalized. This word is an important word for PUSD. This word serves as a key to establishing who we are as a school district and the acronym has a specific meaning. The foundation for our students to EXCEL is based on creating a positive relationship with them and their families. PUSD has made a commitment to a program called Capturing Kids Hearts and the EXCEL model. The foundation of a strong personal relationship is grounded upon our ability to Engage with our students in their education, understand our students as we Xplore their story and educational needs, Communicate in an open and honest manner with students and families, Empower our students take ownership in their learning and Launch our students to the next phase of their educational career.

PUSD strives to provide all students with the rigor necessary to meet the challenges and EXCEL at the next level of their education. At the same time it is our goal to provide a comprehensive educational experience that meets the academic, social and emotional needs of students. As a result of this educational experience, our students have been able to EXCEL at the local, state and national level. Our graduates also EXCEL after high school in four-year universities, community colleges, trade schools, the armed services, and the work force.

I encourage you to become familiar with this site, and to use it often to retrieve information on our district and your child's school. We have included cafeteria menus, bus routes, school calendars, the district calendar, the high school activities calendar, and more. A strong partnership between home and school will help to provide our students with the education that they deserve.
